Cosmic Dining Table

Far-Away Galaxies and Black Holes Inspire Silverlining’s New-Age Craftsmanship

As humans, we have always been fascinated with places out of our reach. At first, that meant new lands, then continents, and now we’re at the peak of our obsession with the cosmos, especially as both the Moon and Mars are seemingly almost at our fingertips.

There are some of the greatest thinkers of our time among our clients. Furniture pieces or art panels that are inspired by the cosmos are very meaningful to them, reflecting on their role and place in the magnificent universe.

Cosmic Dining Table

The Cosmic Dining Table, designed in collaboration with Reymond Langton Design, pairs an astronomy-inspired tabletop with a sculptural bronze pedestal. Planetary bodies finished in textured bronze metallised resin and smaller satellites in black mother-of-pearl orbit the planetary compass, their paths plotted with laser-cut metallised inlay.

“It’s an abstract representation of the Solar System, with a central sun in textured bronze metallised resin. The design involves many geometric and organic elements in a multitude of materials, finishes and textures, which tries to capture the concept of order and chaos that the cosmos above us generates” says Russell Dyson, Silverlining’s senior designer.
