Cabinet maker

Silverlining has been making some of the most ambitious bespoke furniture in the world since 1985. Everything is designed and made in-house at our workshop in North Wales, by a team of designers, craftspeople and specialists who share a single ambition: to push the boundaries of what furniture can be.

We are growing, and we are looking for talented cabinet makers to join that team.

The people who make up our workshop come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some arrive from fine furniture making or furniture restoration. Some come from entirely different industries. What they share is a genuine passion for craft and a drive to keep developing their skills. We have found that the right attitude matters more than a conventional path.

Loughlin - Cabinet Maker

Loughlin trained at West Dean College and joined Silverlining from a furniture restoration background. Working with materials and techniques dating back fifty to a hundred years, he made the move to a workshop that operates at the frontier of what bespoke furniture can be. Since joining, he has worked on development pieces to establish and refine his skill set, and is now contributing to Silverlining's new limited edition collection.

"It's extremely friendly within the workshop, quite a nurturing environment. People take the time and care to help you develop. Jobs are selected to play to what I can do, but to stretch me."

Josh - Cabinet Maker

Josh spent nearly five years as an automotive clay modeller for Jaguar Land Rover before teaching himself cabinet making in his garage and making the move into fine furniture. He joined Silverlining without a conventional furniture making background, but with transferable skills and the determination to learn. Four years on, he leads on his own projects and has travelled to Los Angeles to install work he helped make.

"I wanted to learn as much as I could, to be the best that I could be, and there was no doubt that Silverlining was the place to be."

Gareth - Senior Cabinet Maker into Project Manager

Gareth ran his own bespoke furniture studio for nearly twenty years before joining Silverlining as a cabinet maker. In a year and a half, he has risen to senior cabinet maker and is now moving into a project management role. His most recent work includes a marquetry dressing room island for a superyacht, where every line of veneer had to meet and every grain direction had to run seamlessly across a complex compound form.

"I joined as a cabinet maker, got my head down and worked hard, and rose to senior cabinet maker. Now I'm moving forward to take on a project manager role. The more you put in, the more you get out."
