Pushing Forward: Our Commitment to Sustainability Recognised by Blue Wake at the Monaco Yacht Show

Every September, the Monaco Yacht Show draws the world’s most forward-thinking yacht designers, builders, and craftspeople to Port Hercule. For Silverlining, it is more than just a fixture on the calendar. It is a place where we have been sharing our work for over 25 years, and where we continue to explore new ideas, materials, and directions.

Over time, the show has evolved to reflect growing environmental concerns across the industry. So have we. From the outset, our work has been rooted in integrity, in craftsmanship that endures, in materials that are responsibly sourced, and in a belief that beauty and sustainability are not mutually exclusive.

In 2023, we joined the PRIME initiative, committing to traceability, circular design and ethical production standards across all of our pieces. This applies not only to the interiors we create for yachts, but also to our residential projects and limited-edition collections. Sustainability is not something we apply at the end of a design process. It is built in from the very beginning.

At last year’s show, our founder Mark Boddington was invited to speak at the Sustainability Hub conference, joining the panel “How can we use materials on board to reduce our carbon footprint?” alongside Romain Sauvage from Gordon and Gaia and Guido de Cesare from Marine Leather. The conversation focused on practical, achievable choices, from using cork and vegetable-tanned leather to switching to water-based finishes and recycled veneers. Mark’s message was simple but clear. Small changes, consistently applied, can have a lasting impact.

This year, we are proud to have been selected as part of the first Blue Wake programme, launched in March by Monaco Yacht Show in partnership with the Water Revolution Foundation. Building on the foundation of the Sustainability Hub, this initiative identifies exhibitors who are genuinely committed to reducing their environmental footprint, not just through words, but through action.

At Silverlining, that commitment shapes everything we do. Our materials are tested in house for durability, performance, and impact. Whether it is a console for a Mayfair home or a dining table aboard a flagship yacht, the same questions guide us. Where does it come from, how long will it last, and what kind of legacy does it leave?

As we return to Monaco this September, we look forward to continuing the conversation and to sharing how craft, innovation and responsibility come together in every piece we create.
