Silverlining crafts a Wood Dragon to celebrate the Lunar New Year

At Silverlining Furniture, we are stepping into the Lunar New Year festivities with a unique blend of technology and craftsmanship. To welcome the Year of the Wood Dragon, our team crafted a model dragon using off-cut wooden veneers, paying homage to tradition and symbolism alike.

The decision to utilize wooden veneers resonates deeply with the ethos of the Wood Dragon, embodying themes of growth, renewal, and vitality. Wood, as a natural material, symbolizes these qualities through its ability to regenerate and evolve. Despite utilizing off-cuts, which may initially seem disconnected from notions of growth, they represent a unique opportunity for transformation. Through detailed craftsmanship and laser technology, we breathe new life into these once-discarded pieces, showcasing their potential for renewal. Our commitment to sustainability is not only about minimizing waste but also about embracing the power of renewal in every piece of wood we work with.

It's the human touch that truly brings our dragon to life. Our artisan Kevin Parry, with a lifelong passion for art and a background in animation and design, meticulously assembled just over 3,000 pieces by hand. Drawing from his diverse experience, which ranges from creating bespoke swimming pools to painting murals, Kevin infuses a unique blend of expertise and artistry into each creation. In his spare time, he indulges in painting both digital and traditional artworks, as well as crafting and painting miniatures. Silverlining provides the perfect platform for Kevin to showcase his talents, allowing him to merge technology with detailed craftsmanship that defines this Lunar New Year celebration.

As we welcome in the Year of the Dragon, we invite you to join us in embracing tradition, innovation, and the promise of new beginnings. From all of us at Silverlining, we wish you a joyous and prosperous Lunar New Year.
